The links dont even work and this is so dumb. People been using this drug for so many years with barely any side effects.

minoxidil has been found to inhibit gene expression of the enzyme lysyl hydroxylase which is involved in the production of collagen, so it can increase wrinkles and skin aging.
I really don't see any possible mechanism that could cause sexual sides from minoxidil

Minoxidil is a vasodialator and doesn't have any effect on androgens that I know of, so how could it cause sexual dysfunction? Reading through a lot of those posts many of those people are on other medications like anti-depressants that actually do cause sexual sides, and some of the other posters are just plain neurotic. I would love to see any evidence on a possible mechanism of action that minox could cause sexual sides, because I don't see how it is possible.

i would love to keep applying it and be sure and safe, .....

September 20th, 2010 at 3:18 am MINOXIDIL (active ingredient in rogaine) does in fact cause sexual side effects.
LET ME EXPLAIN WHY:
Minoxidil is a vascular dilator. During a normal erection, the tunica and base of penis is constricted in a way not to allow blood to flow out. Minoxidil causes blood not to be able to stay in penis because it dilates the base of penis. This results in impotence or temporary erectile dysfunction.
SO YES, MINOXIDIL DOES CAUSE ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION.

Dude that is a penis enlargement forum, I wouldn't take much of what is said on there seriously.
If you want I could tell you I'm a doctor
Even if what he said is true I really don't know how you could get that much systemic absorption from topical minox. Maybe if you were taking oral minox, but I don't know. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you aren't getting any sides. I mean it's like taking finasteride for a year and then finding out it can cause sexual sides and then freaking out. If it isn't causing sides for you then who cares.
