I don't know what it means for hairloss, but this great news!! Just last year all the women in my family got together and had a breast cancer gene party. They bought all of the stuff on a list I gave them and then I took DNA samples from each of them to be tested for the brac1 gene. We did this because before this ruling the company in this suit held a patent over this gene and they charged I think a $2500 fee for patients just to be tested for this mutation. All of the supplies and equipment cost a few hundred dollars and I ran the test on about 18 women, which would have cost about $48,000 because of the patent.
I can understand patenting a scientific discovery but you can't patent a gene that exists in someone's DNA, that idea is ludicrous and I am glad the supreme court agreed.

5 years if everything goes perfectly smooth, 15 years if FDA approves.

After Propecia/Fin, Dutasteride, Rogaine, and hair transplants becoming better, I haven't read of any good news for MPB. At least not good concrete news.
