Default Nioxin Shampoo & Vitatress Biotin Scalp Creme Vs Propecia?

Hi folks, due to the recommendation of a few friends I was told that Nioxin Shampoo & Vitatress Biotin Scalp Creme would be an excellent topical alterative to taking Propecia which I've been very reluctant to take due to the side effects.

Well after researching Nioxin on this forum I was dissapointed to learn via posts by ChrisM & Tracy C that Nioxin is a waste of time and does nothing to remove DHT even though it claims to do so.

My question - Does Vitatress Biotin Scalp Creme do anything as a DHT Inhibitor or is this another waste of money?

Are there any topical DHT Inhibitors that actually work?

My plan was to use these two products for a month and then start using Kirkland Minoxidil 5% together and see how results where after 6 months.

This is my first attempt at using any products to regain my hair, I have diffuse thinning and I want to regain the density in the crown and front of my hairline.

It's frustrating because I can see the hair is still there, it's just miniaturised to these tiny little hairs that are almost invisible to the naked eye.

Anyway if I'm gonna give this a proper go I want to do it right, there is no point me wasting money on Nioxin Shampoo and also perhaps Vitatress Biotin Scalp Creme if it's not going to help in any way.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

Waste of time when dealing with MPB.

Biotin helps hair grow faster, not thicker, and it doesn't stop DHT either, or does anything for MPB whatsoever. Excluding if you are on proven hair loss treatments, and take Biotin, you might see results quicker but only because Biotin is helping what ever new hair that has popped up from proven treatments (Finasteride, Rogaine, Dutasteride) grow faster.

Otherwise, as a first line of defense, or to actually use thinking your hair loss will improve, you are wasting your money.

    Thanks for the reply PW

As I explained above I'm reluctant to try Finasteride but I've been thinking that if I did try an oral DHT inhibitor I'd be more likely to try Dutasteride as from what I've read so far it has better results.

I just don't wanna go ahead and start using the 5% Minoxidil just on it's own because I know it won't result in doing much by itself.

Nioxin does absolutely nothing to treat hereditary hair loss. Nioxin is a scam - and a really big one.

Applying any "vitamin cream" or "tonic" to your scalp is a complete waste of time and money. It is not possible to "nourish" your hair from the outside in. You can only nourish your hair from the inside out with a good healthy diet. However, good nourishment itself will do absolutely nothing to treat hereditary hair loss.

It is best that you seek out and make an appointment with a doctor who specialises in treating hair loss. Too much of the crap you find online is complete crap. Go to a real doctor, a specialist, and get the real information.

I've tried this, I've spent good money on appointments with Tricologists, doctors etc They are clueless in my experiences.

People on forums like this have a better knowledge base than the so called "experts" I've experienced.

Rogaine & Propecia, same suggestions for a bunch of people I've gone and seen.
