Default Propecia and older men, effective?

I'd like to ask this, as my libido at 44 isn't what it was at 21? I'm considering fin, but fear that maybe I'd be a candidate for sides simply because my sex drive is already lower due possibly to natural aging reasons.

I mean, I can watch porn and hardly get turned on these days, maybe I'm anaesthetised and have watched too much over the years...

I also find I need to get up and pee in the night, perhaps that indicates a prostate issue already developing.. I'm just thinking aloud, maybe any older guys can share similar experiences, or anyone in the know can advise. Or perhaps I just need to see my gp, let him put his rubber glove on and bend over..

I'd appreciate not getting bashed by young hairloss sufferers. I still care and you will too at my age.

If it's any consolation, at 25 years old my libido gets messed up if I watch porn too frequently. I mean, if I get it in front of me, it's going down (or up, rather). But, in my younger years, I could just crank 'em out all day long.

Also, I wake up and piss most every single night. I'm not saying that it's for the same reason or not but, again, I'm just trying to offer some parallels between us even though we're 20 years apart.

Sorry I didn't exactly address your main inquiry, simply because I don't know the answer. I just wanted to alleviate some of the anxiety you might be experiencing. And finally, if any guy walks in here to diss you about age or symptoms of aging, they should get their ass banned.

Thanks BigThinker for replying. It's kinda nice to know that given our age difference, that you as a younger guy experience similar feelings. Yeah in my early 20's I was always knocking the top off it, these days, abstaining isn't such a problem.

Thanks also for supporting me re my age. You're right mate, no one should attack an older guy, I started losing at the age of 27-and at 44 it still burns deep in my soul, this bastard of a curse.

I think that, generally speaking, younger guys are more susceptible to sides -- a generalization I'm stating purely based on what I've read on this forum. So, inversely, an older dude should be less susceptible to sides? Hormones are less sporadic in our more mature years? I could be wrong, but I'm ****ing with my hormones in my twenties, so I wouldn't be too stressed about it in the 40's.

When my hair loss was early on, I always said I wouldn't care about hair loss in my 40's. But the more I think about it, the more I think we stop caring about hair loss when we have a stable life that involves a wife and kids -- which is more typical of older guys. I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes, hair loss blows so much at all ages.

I hate pulling my hair back to examine my hairline at work in the bathroom. I hate trying to look at my nipples from different angles, looking for any signs of gyno. I hate that my roommate has a NW0 so bushy that girls literally comment how wonderful it is.

I'd just say **** it and hop on fin if I was you, man. Taper on, and listen to your body. My anxiety was x100 before I started fin.

    Best regards.

Cheers man, I hear you. I do wonder if older guys are less susceptible to sides. I'm really tempted to follow Desmonds post, and take 0.25 mg couple of times a week. Still pondering that tho.

Regarding you housemate that's bad, but get this - my older bro still has a nw0 action man hairdo, he's 48, am I ****ing pissed about that? You bet mate, I'm the odd one out, genetics fkd me in my family.

Hey brah, I say give it a shot. I'm about 10 years younger than you and my hair loss came on suddenly in early 2012. I procrastinated pretty much all year instead I tried Saw Palmetto, MSM, etc. but none of them did anything. Finally earlier this year I got on Fin 1.25mg right from the start.

The only side I experienced was a sensitivity in my testicles for roughly 2 days the first week. It will be 3 months for me later this week so still too early to report on any success/regrowth. I kick myself in the @$$ everyday for not starting sooner but I got caught up in worrying about possible side effects.

Also, I wake up sometimes in the night to use the restroom, never really thought anything of it to be honest. I do drink alot of water daily so this is most likely the reason why.

Thanks Stuck, yeah I worry about the sides all the time myself. My loss started early and has been surprisingly slow, but it's catching me up now. I do feel I'd benefit, but don't know if I'm setting myself up for a big fall due to my body's age etc. I've tried trx2 for thirteen months, msm and vit c, for eight, nothing is helping (that I can tell) anyway. Hence my Question about Fin.

    Jcm,

If you are really concern about your balding, go to a trusted doc and have your hair mapped for miniaturization/bulk. This way, you are able to kinda see how far your balding has progressed or not progressed.

If your hair shows no signs of significant miniaturization, I wouldnt bother with a hormone altering drug like Propecia. Why subject yourself to a lifetime commitment to a drug that we really dont know what it does long term to our body.

Thanks tdo, there's no doubt at all that I'm thinning and hairs are miniturising, that's a dead cert.

For me it's roll the dice with fin, or accept my fate with gritted teeth.

I also worry about the long term effects of the drug, taking it isn't an easy decision to make at all.

I would not wish balding on some one at any age, it is always depressing to watch one of your features disappear, period.

If anything I would think fin would be more reliable for maintaining hair in guys >40 than guys in their 20s. Your DHT levels tend to be higher when younger, no? That was my impression anyway

I would say go for it Jcm.
