    My procedure with Dr. Rahal.

I thought I would share my experience with the rest of the board, for anyone wanting to follow.

I have been a lurker on this forum since Summer of 2012, on and off I would come here for solutions that did not involve surgery. But in early 2013, I could not take the shedding of hairs anymore. Everytime I would take a bath/shower and dry my hair (carefully) I would notice drastic amount of hairs in the towel. Throughout the day at work I would notice my hair on my desk if I even gently stroke my hair. I would say I did not do extensive research and based my decision on all the other members' threads and Dr. Rahal's name was mention quite often.

I took the plunge in early March 2013, and booked the date and my flight up to Ottawa. Decided upon a FUT since FUE was double the price, and I have seen photos of others with no visible scars. And I work in IT so wearing a hat was not a concern. The procedure started at 8.30AM until 3.30 - 4pm. I believe I had about 2700-2800 grafts. I should've documented all the details earlier but now I am just guesstimating. My hair has been thinning on top and especially the crown area. I guess I read enough where I shouldn't be concerned this early in the stage, I am reaching the 3rd month within a few days and from the pictures it looks like I have worsen as far as the thinning of the hairs from earlier photos.

    Viziony,

This appears to be your first post so please allow me to welcome you to this community.

The work you had from Dr. Rahal looks very good especially the placement of the grafts. Your strip scar is more uneven than what we are used to seeing post-op however the closure looks fine IMHO.

You are right on the threshold of lots of regrowth my friend. Nice size session and looks exactly like what you needed.

In a few more months you will see lots of new growth so hang on!

Congrats on your procedure and thanks for sharing your case with us. Look forward to your progress pics in the future and best wishes to you!

That's an interesting graft placement--how the grafts snake from the hairline back along the right side of the scalp to the crown. I don't think I've seen that before.

And yes, the scar is unusually jagged, and looks pretty wide to my eyes. Should be a great result, though, given Dr. Rahal's abilities.

Looks good at the 3 month mark. You are going to see some action in the very near future. I hope to see some follow up photos at 6, 9, and 12 months. Good luck.

Thanks for posting about your experience. Next time you speak to your patient advisor, ask them to provide the details of how many grafts you had. No need to be in the dak about this as we're happy to provide that info.

All the best. It's looking great so far!

Not much to report, I have been on and off shaving my head. But I must say if I had to do this all again, I would've definitely spend the extra money for the FUE rather than FUT.

There will not be much to report at only 4 months. Be patient as crown can take long to grow in too.

Look forward to seeing updates at 8-12 months

I could've easily wore the bald headed look while the implanted areas were maturing rather than wearing a hat to cover the scar, that is what I meant about choosing the technique.

                    I am 35 yrs old.

It looks fine just the way it is now. If anything maybe cut the sides much shorter as it will give you the appearance of more hair on top. I have extensive scarring and I just leave the back slightly longer not a big deal.

I am approaching the 9th month. I would say within the 6 - 7 month. I experienced a lot of shedding, outside of the regions that were grafted and also on the right side where I had a lot of grafts done. I will post pictures later, but I started on propecia about 3 weeks ago, hoping to stop the shedding. Currently I am lost in limbo due to the desperation in hair loss. Not really sure what I can do but to wait it out with propecia and see where I end up. I know it will take another 5-6 months or even longer before I can give any definitive results from Propecia. Currently I take 1 mg tablet per day, I am seeing large amounts of hair being lost throughout the day and especially after a shower. I have reduced washing my hair to every other day now, with nioxin.

I did give up eCigs as well, I was heavily vaping when I started to shed prior to my hair transplant, not sure if everything is just a big correlation. But I decided to eliminate that to give everything I can to make an effort to hopefully stopping the shedding and hopefully regrowing a lot of the hair that I have shedded.
