I want to start reading books again

I think reading would help us all think about other things. The last book I read was The Giver. It was alright, but it was short and it seemed better suited for Jr High kids, i'm 24.

Any one recommend some good books with a good story? Preferably a long/college level books.

That is a pretty damn good list of books for you to get started on. There's a lot of classics and they left out Pride & Prejudice-type books that most people find to be boring.

Yeah, you guys are right. I love Science Fiction novels. I read 1984, great book.

The reason I left out what i'm in to is because i'm willing to read on different genres. I wanted to expand my options and not limit myself to one genre, you know.

Donna Tartt - The Secret History. Very well-written, great story.

John Niven - Kill Your Friends. More of an 'easy read' but still hilarious

Blaine Harden - Escape from Camp 14 - True story about a North Korean's escape from a prison camp. Harrowing stuff.

Daniel Keyes - Flowers for Algernon - classic sci-fi.

The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury (sci-fi/anthology)

Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut (war novel with sci-fi elements)

Devil In the White City by Eric Larson (about a Chicago world's fair and serial killer)

The Snowman (translated) by Jo Nesbø ( A Norwegian detective story)

Aztec by Gary Jennings (extremely good historical novel, cannot recommend it enough. If you only read one book in the next year, this should be it.)
