propecia - how well is it working for me?

    Hello everyone,

I am 26, and have been balding for around 3 or 4 years. After a period of denial, I decided 16 months ago to take propecia, with the hope that it would at least maintain the hair that I have. I have had no sides and very little shedding. I do not take minox (too much of an expense and commitment), but added twice weekly nizoral to the regimen about 2 months ago.

I would be interested to know your opinions as to how well propecia is working for me. I've attached 4 pics - two baseline pics dated Jan 7th 2012, and 2 very recent pics. I don't know if propecia has done much for my crown (although I hope it has helped maintain my hair there), but my opinion is that it has improved the thickness towards the front of my head. As I say, though, I wasn't necessarily expecting regrowth, I just wanted at the very least to maintain what I had at the baseline. What do people think?

(Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I have had to use a different camera. The baseline pics were taken with a better quality one. Nonetheless I hope it at least gives you an idea of my progress.)

Your hair looks to be a different length in both pictures. The front "looks" to have improved, but it could just be because its longer.

You're crown surprisingly has not improved. Either way, it is definitely maintaining what you have with what looks to be slight regrowth. So you are accomplishing your goal.

Your hair appears thicker in the front now. The light in the second pic looks brighter, which would make your hair loss worse, but instead it still looks thick. So the medication worked really well for you in the front.

The crown looks a bit stubborn, just like it is for me. The frontal hair loss shows improvement but the crown is filling in really slow compared to the front. Keep at it, because most importantly, you took a step forward, rather than lose hair in that year, and that is always a plus. Especially since you have guys claiming Rogaine/Propecia ruined their hair line and thinned out there hair, that's not the case for you.

      Thanks for sharing your progress.
