Default Please Help!! Am I balding bad??

My boyfriend is 22 years old and refuses to believe he is balding so I am posting this here to see what everyone else thinks. I really care for him and want whats best so I think he should see a specialist right away to see if they can stop the balding but maybe it's just me. His father went almost completely bald at 18 but his grandparents both have a full head of hair. I'm really concerned and want any feedback what so ever! Please any criticism helps!! thank you so much!!

The crown and hairline are visibly thinned out. Luckily, it appears he is still in the early stages. If he's not scared, I'd say he should hop on finasteride and try to maintain what he's got. Also, his head shape looks good, so if he has to go the bald route, he should be fine. Diggin' his current hair style as well -- that's how I get down.

Also, I kind of lol'd that you went out of your way to hide your face in the first 4 pictures, then just didn't in the 5th. Whoops.

I dunno, I'm not so sure. I see nothing wrong with his hairline. His crown looks a bit weird, but it's really hard to say. A lot of people with thick and darker hair have a more visible crown. Based on these pictures it's hard to give a conclusive answer.

Okay!! Thank you so much for your input! Now what is finasteride? Can this be found at a local cvs or is a prescription needed? Lol ya I told him I needed some pictures to put up and he refused to have his face up on the internet, but then i found another picture on my computer and thought the more the better

Finasteride inhibits the production of DHT in our body and, for that reason, should be discussed with a Doc. The role of DHT in the body is not fully known, but we do know it is responsible for Male Patterned Baldness. He'll need a prescription, unless he is willing to order off the internet -- another incentive to see a doc. Regardless, since it's a long-term treatment with potential sides, I would strongly suggest just talking with a processional and reading the literature to see if it's something he'll be into.

I had a doc confirm it was MPB, and then took treatment into my own hands. If he wants to do this, there are a few reputable on-line pharmacies.

It seems like it bothers you more than it bothers him. If he doesn't care about going bald why should you? For the record I really don't see anything concrete to say he is balding for sure. Perhaps if he's up to it get him to see a dermatologist and get a professional opinion.

Thank you so much for all this information! You've really been a big help!!
@Shan allright! thanks for the input as well
@StuckInARut it does because my brother started balding when he was 20 and didn't want to do anything about it cause he simply didn't care. Now he looks back at it and wishes he did something about it. They are both have similar personalities and they're the type of people who truly don't care at the moment, but will look back on it I don't want that on my conscious that I was there for him this whole time and didn't say anything. But by all means I love him for who he is and won't make him do anything, I just want to inform him

Don't know what made me LOL more, the fact his girlfriend posted this for him or if her telling him he is balding is not hurtful enough, having a forum filled with baldies join in the fun.. Not sure there.

As for him, I see what looks to be a "mature hairline" and very very slight thinning on the crown. Now I can't predict the future, but at 22 he seems fine hair wise. I couldn't tell he was thinning if I saw him in the street. Not sure if FIN (Propecia) would be the way to go here, but a doctor would be more suited to make such a call.

He's fine, stop telling him he's balding. Sheesh! Hurts from someone you care about...

I remember the good old days when i didnt even care about balding and all until my ex gf started making these horrible jokes imagining me bald and stuff and that really got me very insecure and paranoid, it was the first time i started thinking about my hair, i was like ****, if i go bald i wont get girls and the only reason im getting some is because of my cool hair... ... moral of the story, dont make your poor bf insecure like me, its good that you mentioned his recession and he's in the early stages to take care of it.. but obsession is unhealthy, dont make him obsessed like us.
