Default BHT falls off after you start taking propecia?

    true or false?

Somebody said 99% of BHT fell off when he started taking propecia.

I know doctors advise to stay away from propecia if you had BHT, it might be something to it but i never thought BHT could dissapear

when I was on propecia my body hair was weaker but chest and beard didnt go bald,

anyone can elaborate on this subject

In another forum, a poster who has been around for years wrote, he has been on Propecia for 20 years and it didn't cause any body hair loss or effect the leg hair grafts he had placed to soften his hairline.

A while back, Sharon A. Keene, M.D. considered whether finasteride could have a negative impact on patients who have body hair transplant surgeries. In her review of scientific literature on whether finasteride effects body hair growth, Dr. Keene's came away with the opinion that current research is inadequate to come to a solid conclusion.

Finasteride, the active ingredient in the hair loss medication Propecia, works by blocking the 5-alpha-reductase type 2 enzyme (5-AR Type 2). The 5-alpha-reductase type 2 enzyme (5-AR Type 2) is needed by the body to covert testosterone into DHT. DHT is the culprit responsible for flipping the MPB "on switch".

Current research indicates that DHT plays a key role in body hair growth. Males born with a deficiency of 5-AR Type 2 have little to no body hair growth and do not experience male pattern baldness.

It seems logical that finasteride would inhibit the growth of hair on the body. The genetic variation among men is too great to determine exactly how much of an influence it actually has.

    Dr. Keene suggests:
A patient regularly using finasteride for at least a year who has body hair transplants is probably safe to continue using it. Body hairs remaining after a year of finasteride use are most likely not going to be sensitive to this drug.

I have never had a BHT but have been taking low dose finasteride since 1996 and never noticed any changes in my body hair.
