I'm 53, Norwood pattern 5, and contemplating transplants, although I am not sure what kind or what my first steps should be. The first question, I guess, deals with finding the right doctor. Should I travel to a city like New York or L.A. (where I do business a couple times a year) to have the work done, or should I have it done where I spend most of my time (Boca Raton, Fl.)? If lots of follow ups are required then I would imagine Boca is it, unfortunately.

kirribilli when choosing a surgeon for a cosmetic procedure the research period is the most important part of the entire process. Please keep in mind you can get great results all over the world, so may I suggest when doing your research, do so without too much consideration of travel. Best of luck to you!!!

If you look around and do some more research you will find some really good doctors in the south Florida area. Yes, I have practiced in Boca Raton for past 8 years, but I am not only talking about my clinic. There are several others including Dr.Epstein, Dr. Nusbaum, and Dr. Rose as well as a few others in the south Florida area. The three parts of the country you mentioned are probably the highest volume cities for plastic and cosmetic surgery. Goog luck, remember
good decisions are usually made by those who are educated.Comment

Couldn't have put it better. The typical follow up consists, in my practice, of the patient coming in the first post-procedure day to have his/her hair washed, then being able to return home. Many times, this means out of state, even out of country.
Right here in south Florida, there are several excellent hair transplant docs- just as Glenn mentioned.
