Default Just received generic propecia from my pharmacist

My girlfriend just returned from Rite Aid where she picked up what I expected to be my normal propecia prescription. Instead, she returned with two 30 tablet containers of Dr. Reddy's 1mg finasteride.

The total cost? $144. What's the point of generic if it's going to cost that?! This has to be a mistake.

Yeah, you're very nearly paying pharmacy Propecia prices (90 usd per month, I believe). You should have asked your doctor for a prescription for generic proscar (5 mg finasteride). You can cut that into quarters and it is insanely cheap.

Have had some patients that claim they have found generic Finasteride 1 mg at local pharmacies and the price was much more reasonable that what you paid. Look around before choosing.

you say TWO 30 pill containers for $144? 72 a pop...

Propecia was ~90 for 30 pills...so 180$ for two containers...
    seems right to me.

    price should continue to fall

@Aames Yeah, I used to go the generic proscar route, but I just moved in with my girlfriend and I don't want to have broken finasteride tablets around the bathroom.

@Dr Charles I'm in LA; perhaps the prices are different here? What affects generic pricing? I was thinking generic propecia would be a lot less.

Try checking at walmart. I'm not sure about generic propecia, but I get a 4 month supply of generic proscar for $9. The Fry's pharmacy by my house charges like 60 something dollars for the same thing so the price difference between rite aid and walmart my be significant as well.
