    cutting propecia pills?

I decided to start taking propecia today. I was prescribed 1mg finasteride once daily... but from the research I've done, I understand that as little as .2mg is just as effective as the 1mg. For now, I will be cutting my pills into halves and taking .5mg once a day. How do you guys cut these pills up? I took my first dosage today, and I had a hard time cutting it up without making a mess. Is there an art to cutting this pill perfectly without having to go to the store and buy a pill cutter? It's the small, 1mg finasteride pill from the local pharmacy.

    Thanks guys!

    Hey Ben,

Its definately a good idea to start off slow and steady and allow the body to get introduced to the new drug. ).5mg of finasteride is actually nearly as effective as 1mg anyway at suppressing DHT

Simply get a sharp knife - or better still a pill cutter from local pharmacy

Carefully use a straight razor blade that has one sharp side and one blunt side. Similar to a blade you would use to scrape paint off of a window. It works best if you only make one swift smooth motion of the blade from top of pill to surface below.
