    How bad is this?

    So, I've uploaded 3 photos.

    Photo #1 (which looks awful)
    - is taken directly under the light after I parted my hair and flattened to 'show' off the bald patch

    Photo #2
    - is taken directly under the light after I 'un-parted' my hair from photo 1

    Photo #3
    - taken in natural light.

for context I am 37. Jan. 4th (5 weeks ago) I started Rogaine Foam 5% and Nizoral once a week.

    2 Questions

    (1) What do you say, am I pretty much doomed to baldness?

    (2) Any chance that Rogaine can help a case like mine?

    thx

what do you mean by that? Are you going bald - yes. Is baldness a progressive condition - yes.

It's possible... plenty of users with less hair who became almost full-heads after a year or so on treatments

thx, do you think Rogaine alone can make a noticeable difference (keep a relatively full head) or do I absolutely need propecia?

I personally have a hard time thinking anyone without propecia is going to have long term success at hair loss. I just dont see what other alternatives work that well I mean its basically the only reason you can even do anything reasonable about MPB at all.
It was a huge advance I dont think people really give much credit too just because it has sides and that.

Take those pictures on bernstein medical with a grain of salt.

in my opinion they are either...
              A) absolutely amazing results and a majority of people wont attain the same results
              B) are fin/rogaine pictures coupled with a hair transplant...as you can clearly see a drawn in hair line similar to what a physician would draw on your head at a hair transplant consultation in one of your photos.

with that being said, just set realistic expectations and rogaine/fin shouldnt disappoint

But just to clarify... The only chance I have to slow down my mpb must include fin?

If I stick with rogaine foam, nizoral, vitamins (biotin, d, green tea extract) and no fin then I should not expect much gain/hair loss slow down/regression?

I'm trying to determine whether there is any hope at all without fin.

since Fin attacks the cause of the problem, it is largely accepted as the most effective treatment for MPB.

No one can predict really how you'll respond, but you'd probably have to be part of the lucky minority to halt your balding with rogaine/nizoral alone...there is hope but its slim.

Fin helps a lot. most take it without sides, which im sure what your reservations with it are. With Fin, Rogaine, and Niz, your chances are good of at the very least halting or severly slowing down your balding

now why is that? Did you read the official study about nizoral? I'm pretty sure it says that it has MAINTAINTED(unchanged) hair density. Just because it's a shampoo, doesn't mean that it's weak... I think ketoconazole has a longer half-life then fin anyways

The only chance you have to slow down your MPB is with Fin (although Minoxidil can really help the crown), but it's not certain that your hair loss will progress rapidly. I've spoken to many guys who started losing hair in their twenties (sometimes in their teens) and who made it to their 40s without major progression in their balding pattern.

The crux of the matter is this: MPB is unpredictable. With the medications you do give yourself the best chance of holding on to your hair.
