Default 22 year old. Diffuse thinning? Opinions and suggestions appreciated

    Hey guys,
I'm new here so I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 22 going on 23 in a few days, and my hair is thinning out pretty good. I've always had fine hair just like my mom, but over the past year it's gotten much thinner and harder to style. I have a lot of miniaturization occurring and I am losing it in a diffuse pattern. My oldest brother is 27, and he is extremely thin, and my other brother, who is 24 opted to clean shave what little hair he had left (he lost his hair between 17-21) so he is clean bald pretty much. My friends and family tell me my hair is fine, and nobody tells me I'm losing it, but the mirrors don't lie, and I watched what happened to my brothers first hand. I was thinking about buying minoxidil foam this week to try and combat my thinning crown and top scalp. I know that minoxidil doesn't fight mbp at the core, but I would rather try it out before I take extreme measures and hop on propecia. I have an appointment with a hair specialist in 2 weeks so ill def find out what he thinks are my best options, but if you guys could take a look at the pics and give me some input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time. I know I'm not alone In this so it would be good to get honest advice from people who know what I'm dealing with first hand.
Note: the pic attached was today when hair was wet. I have more photos but my iPad is only letting me upload one

Definitely looks thinned, not that that is any surprise to you. I think you're doing the right thing to acknowledge that, regardless of what your family says to comfort you, in order to act timely and effectively.

As for suggestions, I think you're already taking the appropriate first step: speaking with a specialist. In preparation for that meeting, you might benefit from educating yourself on the "Big 3". Find a thread with plenty of information here: http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/showthread.php?t=743

Wish you the best, and I hope that was even modestly helpful. Ask otherwise.

lol you're so naive. What could he possibly know? If you haven't realized by now, baldness is not really curable and it's very hard to reverse anything significantly so what are your options? This page will provide you with 50x more info than your doctor:

if what you just said is true, what are you doing here then? I didnt think that going to a doctor to have tests done and have my hair looked at by someone who does that everyday for a living was naive, but I guess im more naive than I thought.judging from your past posts it seems as if youre a pretty pessimistic about most things. i didnt come on here to whine about my hairloss. thanks for your 2 cents on the matter though

Your hair looked a lot like mine. My crown was probably worse though. After a year or so of denial I jumped on 0.5mg of finasteride per day and ketoconazole shampoo 2-3 times per week. I never tried minxoidil as there is no way I could keep up with applying that 1-2 times per day. Not what you want to hear but there are limited options in what works to fight hair loss. Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones as I've had no sides from finasteride. I saw a lot of improvement at month 8 or 9 and my crown filled in nicely a little after a year. Remember, finasteride is effective at keeping what you have, regrowth isn't always going to happen and it's especially difficult to regrow on the hairline. The longer you wait the more hair you are going to lose. Like many other people I wish I would of addressed my hair loss earlier. Good luck.

Should he have Wikipedia prescribe him drugs and monitor his biometrics too?

Yeah, I wouldn't stress him. Dude is a super salty NW7 and trying to bring others down because of it.

You're doing the right thing. See a professional and pursue viable treatments responsibly, while enjoying being infinitely more satisfied with life than that miserable soul can comprehend.

don't worry nothing is missing - you're just going bald like millions of other men. Doctors have no idea what's causing baldness and the only treatment they're aware of is the only two that have been approved at the moment. You would be just wasting money. Plus, it's likely that the doctor would prescribe brand names and I doubt you would want to pay $100/month...
