For people in the UK, where do you get propecia from and how much do you pay?

I've been thinking of getting treatment for my hairloss for about a year now. The only thing putting me off at the moment is the cost of propecia in the UK. I still have most of my hair, i have a receeding hairline and a little thinning in the front.

I was thinking of getting an online prescription from boots and getting my pills from there (at least i can be certain it's the real stuff as boots is reputable) but with a cost of £45 per month i may need to win the lottery first. haha

any guys with advice?

I have been on finasteride for 6 years now, and I have been getting my finasteride from ukfinasteride.org for approximately the last two.

The overall service is excellent. The delivery is quick, pricing is excellent and fully legitimate.

I recently purchased Proscar, and I got 12-15 months supply for 220GBP from memory.

Definitely an option to consider.

Boots is £90 every 3 months, so £30 a month. Just be sure you know what you're getting into with propecia

The possibility of losing sex drive does not discourage me at all. Just out of curiosity what was your experience of the drug? the way the replies are written particularly kayman who says "just be sure you know what you are getting into" lead me to believe that you've experienced some negatives.

I feel that there is more negativity towards it on this forum than any other I have been on if I am honest.

However, I am not going to disregard the claims made by people that state they have had genuine side effects.

From my personal experience so far, I can speak positively of the drug as I have been on it for 6 years now with great success.

Just make a well rounded decision.

I actually had decent results with propecia I used it for about 5 years I think then the effectiveness began to decline. I had the brain fog side effect where I became forgetful and my mind felt a bit cloudy.
The reason I say just know what you're getting into is because I now have a much better understanding of the importance of DHT in the male body. It plays a major role in the male body. Had I had a better understanding of what DHT is responsible for I wouldn't have gone down the propecia route to begin with, I believe that suppressing 70% of it day after day will eventually have a negative lasting effect, whether it's 5 years, 10 years, 15 years down the line. The possible side effects it causes are just too much of a price to pay for hair, if in 10 years time I found out I had killed my penis or permanently reduced my sperm count or suffered terrible depression through constant DHT suppression I'd feel terrible about myself. It's too much of a gamble in my opinion.
I came off it with no lasting side effects thankfully and that's the way I intend to stay. There is a website that's a support group for people who have taken propecia and suffered awful side effects although how many are hypochondriacs I don't know but there are some terrible stories on there. Plus the way the fda asks for research into new reported side effects as time goes on makes me feel uneasy about the drug.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BUY PROPECIA FROM BOOTS.

You'll be pouring money down the drain. And be taking the drug without medical supervision.

Get a prescription for generic finasteride from a GP or (better) a dermatologist. (It won't be an NHS prescription, for won't be free or the flat-rate NHS charge.)

I took my prescription form to Boots and paid £6 (yes, six Pounds Sterling) for a year's worth of finasteride.

My GP knows I take the drug, I have access to medical supervision if I need it, and know that I need a liver function test ever six months or yearly.

(Admittedly I had to see a dermatologist to get the prescription, and privately, but the hundred odd quid I paid was 100% worth it, not only in terms of the savings on the drug cost, but also because I got to see a medical specialist about my hair loss, which everyone should try and do if they want to fight it IMO.)
