    Diffuse Thinning Question

    Hi,

My hair loss is that of diffuse thinning. Basically, all the hairs on my head are affected by increased levels of DHT. My brother who is 7 years older than me (and we have had the same hair type) is basically thin all over. It's hard because it would be inaccurate to call him bald but he does not have much hair. He is also greatly thinned all around his head (not just crown and front). However, for much of his life he has struggled with mental illness and has been on a myriad of medications which I am convinced have not helped his hair loss or at the very least made it significantly worse.

I responded very, very well to propecia but have been off it for about 4 1/2 months and just trying to dot all my 'i's' and cross 't's' in my attempt to 'slow' down my hair loss.

As a diffuse hair thinner is there anything I should be aware of or check out? For example, I found a nodule on my thyroid gland and just getting that checked out. Just not sure if being a diffuse thinner makes things a little different for me. For example, I am noticing that my hair loss pattern is thinning in the crown and a straight line (1/4 inch wide) from the crown up the middle of my scalp to the front of my head.

    Thanks.
