Default Why don't someone research on making hair follicle DHT resistant?

As we know that hair on the top is vulnerable to DHT for men who inherit that gene, one research area nowadays is gene therapy where they would remove that gene from such men.

However, isn't it simpler to find a solution where you make the hair on top DHT resistant just like hair on sides. It doesn't sound a like a terribly difficult thing to do or is it?

So why no one is working on that. As far as I understand the problem lies with a hair follicle, so wouldn't treating that hair follicle, so that it become DHT resistant, solve the problem?

If I'm not mistaken, sebaceous glands require DHT to make sebum. If you completely killed that process, you would likely not grow hair anyway. DHT is not the cause of hair loss, its an effect. There's an underlying problem that damages the follicle that apparently science hasn't figured out or doesn't deem necessary to focus on.

aderans is basically doing this, not eliminating the DHT completely though I believe.

Someone is working on that - and they have been for a while. They are making progress too - but it is very slow progress.

Not Aderans, Replicel. Aderans is trying multiply DHT resistant follicles. Replicel is trying to repair damaged follicles and make them DHT resistant. Two similar but different treatments methodologies.

Our follicles do not to be DHT resistant. The follicles on the back of our heads still use DHT, its just regulated as it should be. People need to do some more research before throwing this DHT myth around as it has been for years. It's just a symptom.

That actually sounds really funny after reading what you just wrote. You need to do some learning yourself. DHT is in fact half the problem. The sensitivity to the damaging effects of DHT by the individual follicles is the other half. This has been very well established.

Damaging effects of DHT? lol. The follicle uptakes excessive androgens for a reason. Do some research and quit regurgitating things you've heard over the years. DHT in your body is not a problem at all, follicular damage is a problem. Excessive androgen uptake is a symptom of that problem. Maybe we should remove all Androgens from our body! that would fix it! Maybe we should remove all DHT! Maybe we should remove all DKK-1!... All symptoms. Removing them all accomplishes the same thing, none of witch fix the problem or re-grow all of your hair.

hair on sides and back isn't resistant... it does deplete over time due to it still having androgen receptors but much less of them.

think of an AVERAGE PERSON. Got the image? Ok, now think about what you're selling - making your hair DHT resistant(impossible, but let's go on anyways). How would you sell that? A balding person comes in and you must convince him to give you thousands of dollars for absolutely no results. Do you see that ever happening? Most people don't go bald in a month, it takes decades and decades.

Also, youngin is right. DHT is not the full story. Everyone has DHT and tons of it. This is the entire problem:
