Default NW3 is the tipping point

Anything past a nw2.5 and it's blindingly obvious you're balding.

That's the point when people, normal people, that aren't losing their hair, start to notice that you're losing yours.

    Got a NW2?
Well, pretty unlikely anyone at all will notice, the only person that cares is very likely you.
Keep it short and you're good to go with the right hairstyle.

But once that NW3 kicks in, your only option is a transplant.

It's that or live with permanent disfigurement, unless you're one of the tiny minority of men who look like a boss with a shaved head.
Most of us however, just look like we're ill with shaved heads.

    What's your plan for NW3?

I can see you're struggling. Give it some time, mate.

Shaved head. I don't have the best bone structure (face or skull) for a shaved head, but won't subject myself to a HT. I do, however, grow thick, dark facial hair. So, I'll probably go super short on the dome and keep a decent amount of scruff. Also, I've already started working out with the intent of getting bigger.

This sounds uncannily like something Highlander would post.

I notice that too. Probably it is indeed Highlander with a different account, LOL!

Nah. This guy sounded like he was genuinely interested in options and looking for a forum consensus. A post from Highlander would have been laced with aggression, self-pity, and would have ended with some unreasonable consequence for continued balding (e.g. suicide).

I think itsmyhairs makes is valid point. Most people not obsessed by hair loss perceive NW 2's as still having a full head of hair. I'm a NW 2 and my gf can't fathom why I'm so obsessed w hair loss. "You have a full head of hair!" She protests whenever I bring it up or talk about shaving my head.

Categorizing NW 3's or worse as "disfigured" is perhaps a bit much tho

Agreed, on both fronts. NW3 is more noticeable.

On the disfigurement note; hair loss is, in an intrinsic manner, the norm. Whether we like it or not, the process is entirely natural and occurs in most men by a certain age. In this way, hair loss is by no means a disfigurement.

Now; here's an exception to the above. Young men do not typically exhibit signs of hair loss. Those that do, necessarily deviate from norm, and can in this way perhaps be considered disfigured.

Women are notorious for this. She wouldnt tell you if you were going bald or not. She would deny it.

Just like no matter how much she balloons out, she aint looking fat in that dress.
