    Default Biotin Dosage

What dosage of Biotin do people take daily? I just purchased the 5mg pills.

Biotin does absolutely nothing to treat hereditary hair loss, so it does not matter. Just follow the dosage recommendations on the bottle.

I take 10,000 mcg. Biotin may not stop or prevent hair loss, but it promotes healthy hair and growth to existing hair.

Yup, I realize it doesn't stop hereditary loss. I had a hair transplant about a year ago, and just trying to "maximize" the growth. I know I should have probably started right after my HT.

I went to Whole Foods and am taking their 5mg Biotin product.

I'm not knocking it, I take it myself. Haha. I also take extra vitamin D3.

This is the multi-vitamin I take (as directed on the bottle). The pic is a link.

Biotin certainly works well for more than just hair, I have to cut my fingernails twice a day----

Maybe I'll lower the dose to 5K........

I've been taking 5mg Biotin once/day for about 2 weeks now and I've broken out all over my chest and shoulders -- like really bad. I might have 1 or 2 zits here at any one time, but it looks like I've rolled in an ant hill. It doesn't even look like normal acne - it looks like some sort of rash.

If it doesn't go away in a week or so I'm going to drop it.

5000Mcg (5mg) is too much in my honest opinion. I think 1000Mcg (1mg) is enough. You had over intake which lead you to these symptoms. Just cut it to 1000Mcg, remember Biotin enhance your hair but does not stop genetic hair loss or replace rogaine or propecia.
