    16, and you guessed it...

Hello what is going on everyone, i hope you're all having a good time. I'm 16 and noticed that my hairline is receding. I always kind of knew that i would go bald eventually because i naturally have thin hair all over. But i was hoping to recede at 30, not 16. My dad is bald but he's the only person in my family tree whom is bald. He starting balding at around 25 and is now nw5 at age 40. My hairline receded 2 centimeters measuring from the center of my hairline to the farthest receded part of the temples. I have an appointment to the doctor because i don't know where to find a dermatologist. Hopefully the doctor can help me find one or introduce me to one. I did a lot of research and was wondering if i should start using minoxidil and Regenpure shampoo. I'm a decent looking guy with my hair but i once had a buzzcut and looked horrendous so i doubt shaving my head in the future is an option. Am i too young to use minoxidil? Should i hold out longer and hope for replicel and those other hairloss miracles? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks everyone.

PS. I'm also starting to lose my confidence over time, i used to be a confident guy but now i'm always self conscious about my hair.

At only 16 years old it is far more likely that you are only developing the natural and normal adult mature male hair line and not actually balding already.

As young boys mature into grown men, they loose their temple hair as their hair lines mature. This is especially true in caucasion males. This normal male development in and of itself is not MPB. Nor is it an indication of MPB. It is a completely normal part of maturing into an adult male. An ethical dermatologist who specializes in treating hair loss is going to tell you the exact same thing I just told you.

Do not attempt to prevent this natural and normal Process by using Minoxidil on your hair line. Doing so could actually speed up the process. Minoxidil is for treating MPB and FPB. Minoxidil is not intended to prevent the natual and normal adult male hair line.

It is a good idea to use Nizoral once a week if you can get it. For the rest of the week, use a good quality sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.

to be honest, you said things that made me a little worry
1-i naturally have thin hair all over.
2-He starting balding at around 25 and is now nw5 at age 40.
most people with NW5+ get bald at early of their age, am a case of that.
i started getting bald at age 15 till i become NW 6 at 22.
the good thing is that you will see a dermatologist and try to get a hair bulking because it is hard to see it with naked eyes.

Wayne,,the most important thing for you to do is to NOT PANIC.
We truly are 'Our Own Worst Critics'. What you see in yourself most others do not see.
Don't allow unnecessary stress or anxiety to rule your young life.
Regarding the hair loss, youngsters like you will benefit the MOST in the relatively near future. Hair will be maintained and or repaired with viable treatments ahead.. Until then, just be YOURSELF. Rise above any internal or external criticisms. YOU will benefit from that too.
