Finasteride and getting a girl pregnant

    Hi.

Were there studies on effects of FINs when planning to have kids?
If I'm on FIN, will it give birth defects to my child?

    thanks

I know I've seen that Merck did a study that said finasteride does get carried through semen but by the time the child is developing into a male the traces of the drug are gone and it is safe. However, my dermatologist said she is conservative and thinks one should go off the drug when trying to conceive. I personally agree with her. It's not worth risking birth defects to my child for hair.

For how many months should we stop FIN before having intercourse with our partner?

Yup, finasteride is a teratogen. Might want to ask Dr. Charles, but I've been told that they should stop for about a year.

Yep - I had been on finasteride 1mg for many many years. Didnt stop taking it.

My wife and i conceived at FIRST attempt.. TWINS.

Boy and Girl. ( supposedly the hardest combination to produce from a fertility perspective.. )

I think its a fertility drug ( JOKE - Before i get attacked by some uptight aliases )

This is MY experience with the drug and getting pregnant.
