New to the forum, Hairline Receding....

First of all want to say thanks to all for the support. Glad I found this forum so I can input my thoughts.

Just to sum it up, i've had a full head of hair my whole life (Im 24), and recently the past year my hairline started receding fast and my hair is starting to get real thin and light in the front...(but then again it's thick Asian hair that points straight up.. if you know what I mean) But you can start to see my scalp

I've researched the Fin regimen, but I'm not really liking the whole erectile dysfunction thing...
I know both my grandparents were bald, so theres genetic thing, but do you guys have ANY thoughts or suggestions as to what to do?

I really appreciate all the help.

Additional note: I'm getting some biotin pills and biotin shampoo tomorrow.

You have type "A" MPB. That entire thin area will be bald in time. The biotin is not going to make even the slightest difference. If this bothers you, you need to book an appointment with a dermatologist who specializes in treating hereditary hair loss. You are not at all likely going to be able to treat this without meds.

I am curious. Will medication help him to the point his hair will be as dark on top as the rest of his hair? Can it actually regrow hair or just maintain the level of thinning he has already.

Almost certainly not. Minoxidil can regrow some hair -- emphasis on SOME -- but it's usually effective in the crown and the vertex, not the frontal region. Propecia helps someone with MPB hold onto their hair, and only regrows in rare cases. Even if these medications regrew some hair in his frontal region, it was be virtually miraculous if they regrew enough to give him a density identical to the rest of his head. This is where realistic expectations are important. Maybe Tracy will have something to add, but I'd wager she'll be about in line with that I've said.

Actually they can only legally SAY minox works on the back because that's the area of the scalp the trials were carried out on.

The scalp is the scalp though and personally, I've had pretty significant gains on the temple area in just under 3 months.
The hairs are thick, terminal hairs too.
You won't see the full results for minox for at least 6-9 months either.

My reccomendation would be to get on fin and Minoxidil.

being as this is early on, fin may very well help to return and maintain some that hair, while minoxidil may give you a boost as well.

No guarentees, but you do have options that can do something for you.
