When does Propecia go generic?
I was told by the Hair Transplant Dr. that prescribed me Propecia that it will be going generic this month (this was 6 months ago). Anyone have any idea when it will be?
On a separate note, how would you go about getting a prescription for Proscar? What are other cheap alternatives to paying full price for Propecia? $220 every 3 months isn't easy.

$220 every 3 months? They are making a killing...
I paid about $130 for 360 tablets of finasteride from 4rx (from india). It was even express delivered for free with a tracking number. Since I'm taking .5mg every day it will last me two years. Not bad at all in my opinion.
Someone either here or on another hairloss forum had these pills tested and they are legitimate.

Wiki quote
Drug trade names include Propecia and Proscar, the former marketed for male pattern baldness (MPB) and the latter for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), both are products of Merck & Co. There is 1 mg of finasteride in Propecia and 5 mg in Proscar. Merck's patent on finasteride for the treatment of BPH expired on June 19, 2006.[45] Merck was awarded a separate patent for the use of finasteride to treat MPB. This patent is set to expire in November 2013.

It says you need a prescription for the generic finasteride which I don't have and a visit to my GP is a nice big bill since I don't have health insurance at the moment.
Are there any reputable sites that don't require a prescription for the generic finasteride?
