BHT - FUE / 3100 Graft Repair
In October, I engaged in an online consultation. After submitting a series of photos and a summary of my history and priorities, The doctor personally responded... requesting a couple additional photos and then his assessment. An initial two-day procedure of 3000 grafts, from my scalp and beard.
I had presumed my donor area was all but depleted. Old plug extractions and several strip surgeries had taken their toll, but amazingly, he was able to grab about 1500 grafts.... very useful in blending with beard hair and usage to form my new hairline.
The photos are from my 4th week post-op. Minimal shock loss, and extensive transplant shedding is where I am at presently. All is going very well. The redness in the recipient area is slowly fading. Now it's a matter of waiting for the new grafts to mature and grow.
More photos as things progress. With the advent and refinement of FUE and BHT, there is hope for many of us where none existed only a few short years ago.

Nine Week Update
Progress marches on. As you can see in the photos, I still have some residual redness, especially in the frontal area. It is returning to normal slowly, and the doctor confirms that this is not unusual for a fair-skinned patient. I'm keeping an eye on it, but everything is normal and on schedule.
Transplants are emerging as very fine strands of light hair. The sensation of 3000 relocated follicles emerging from the scalp is a strange, yet pleasing sensation and a consistent reminder that things are turning around after surgery, shedding, and now finally... regrowth.

Hi Agem.... I went to Dr Umar's Redondo Beach, CA clinic.

Oh, thanks for the fast reply (a record i think).....might i ask a rude question?...........(How much)........& what are your thoughts about UK clinics?
Cheers

It's very labor intense...about 15 hours of surgery @ $8 per unit. Mine worked out to $24k.
I don't anything about UK options, but there are several forums around that discuss clinics worldwide.

$24,000 for only 3,000 grafts?! Holy christ that is expense.... makes Dr. Gho's procedure looks cheap especially since donor area regenerates...

For the quality and expertise of the doctor's FUE/BHT abilities, it is very reasonable. One merely needs to look at his hundreds of documented cases via video and pictures. She $8.00 a graft is a good price when you have the best doing it for you. It's a lot cheaper than the $14.00 Dr. woods charges.
Going cheap isn't always the best idea.

You know what would have been even cheaper? Accepting the offer of the first transplant surgeon I went to to "fix" me for free. And you would opt for the freebie?
Yes, it's a lot of money. And maybe I could have purchased a cheaper car, or a cheaper guitar and so on.... but I don't have to look those things in the mirror every day.
And having said that, I was not hostage to my emotions. I can appreciate what it entails to move one hair at a time, and do so in an aesthetic and medically sound fashion and indeed, I experienced it first hand.
Maybe you wouldn't hire a landscaper to mow your lawn with a pair of scissors... but that has to be what it feels like, and I for one, appreciate the efforts and the results.

13 Week Update
For those of you keeping score at home, it's been about 13 weeks since my procedure, and into what will probably prove to be a boring stretch so far as picture-worthy results.... but I hope you take time to notice my new shirt. No one can say I don't go out of my way for you guys.
The redness at the front continues to fade. A majority of the transplants are beginning their fight to the surface to join the 15 to 20% of those that managed to take hold right out of the gate.
My girlfriend inspects with a magnifying glass every so often, and in her estimation, the density of the transplants is roughly 50% of my existing hair. If that's the case, I'm very pleased. I have the added benefit of a nice hair color to mask any lack of density (thank you Dad).... Of course, thanks to dear old Dad's genes, I'm proudly displaying photos of my head in a discussion forum.
