Do Bald men have more body hair?

Interesting article i read : I like the way this guys neck line has been neatly shaved to fit in behind his shirt neck line - Lol!

Strange as it may seem, it is not that uncommon for men who are bald on the top of their head to maintain hair elsewhere on their body.
There are many myths floating about as to why this is the case, with some people mistakenly claiming that baldness makes you more
manly (via higher testosterone levels). Below, it explains why some men grow beards worthy of Father Christmas whilst being troubled
    by scalp-based hair loss.

    The Science Bit

The hormone DHT, a derivative of testosterone, is the culprit behind male pattern hair loss. DHT ( a male sex hormone, or androgen)
acts by stifling genetically predisposed hair follicles’ ability to produce hair. As the follicles shrink in size, the hair becomes thinner and
shorter in length and eventually the follicles can cease to produce hair at all. These types of hair follicle are commonly on the tops of men’s
heads, explaining why many men experiencing male pattern hair loss do not thin around the sides of their scalp.

However, hair follicles elsewhere on a man’s body respond in quite the opposite way to these androgens, with DHT actually stimulating
hair growth. So, in fact, bald men may well find themselves with more body hair than those with more hair on their heads, due to their
bodies producing more DHT, both the reason for their baldness and their body hair growth. And why do some people produce more DHT
than others? You have your parents to blame for that one, it’s all down to genetics.

    Hi Spex

    Interesting article and photo.

I have a lot of body hair and have noticed many hair loss sufferers do, more so of darker complexion types. Some of the lighter haired, lighter skinned guys can have severe loss on the scalp with little to no body hair however.

Conversely I've seen guys with loads of body hair and zero scalp hair loss, so it does seem to be a lottery but general rule of thumb is that the DHT that causes the loss in the scalp also produces body hair. Indeed some guys on DHT blockers do report a loss in body hair and this was my experience also on my chest, arms, legs but not beard incidentally.

That guy's spine will never get cold...

For the record, I'd be happy if I had less body hair.

I was that kid growing substantial facial hair around age 13. It was cool to be able to grown stubble in highschool, and I've enjoyed growing mustaches and other facial hair in my early 20s. But, man, it'd be cool to pause progression and enjoy where I am until they bury me.
