Propecia initial sides??
Hello all,
I am new to the forum and would like to say I really enjoy reading everyones posts. It seems like a positive community where people can really help each other out.
My first question is in regards to Propecia side affects. I started taking Propecia .5mg a week ago and have taken it every day. The first day I had testicle ache and a few days later watery ejaculate and some trouble getting/maintaining a hard erection. Is this a common experience adjusting to the drug? I am 19 (almost 20) and a little over a Norwood 2. I don't care about regrowing any hair, I just want to keep what I have so I started propecia/nizoral. Any suggestions/comments? Also does anyone take .5mg EOD and maintain?
Thanks

Hi FearTheLoss
Happy that you started before it's too late.
I've been on propecia for about 8 months. The first 2-3 months were horrible in terms of that I experienced many side effects.
The only advice I give you is continue and never give up at least for the first couple of months!
I can tell you that I'm now fine, just keep going and stop thinking about them. You have a big chance of overcoming them

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted someone to reassure me! I'm aware of the possible side affects that some people have, but I am not intimidated by the small number that have them out of millions. However, I hope I do not have to be on this drug forever, is it reasonable to think that there will be a better alternative within 5 years?
Also, does anyone have an input on the .5mg everyday effectiveness and the .5mg EOD effectiveness?
Again, all I'm really hoping for is to maintain what I have.

To update anyone that was wondering. The sides have continued to wear off day by day as I believe my body is adjusting to the drug. I also have had some raging boners in the past 2 days so I believe this is a good sign. I'm glad I didn't freak out the first week and get off of it.

Good for you man....I hope it stops the hair loss and you gain some.
I didn't have any sides, but I'm older than most people on this forum, the medication has worked incredibly well for me in the last six months.

How old are you out of interest? I do wonder if the older one is, the less likely hood of sides.

54 years old, Jcm,
I think this may make a difference, I don't see older men complaining about side-effects, just the opposite, Propecia stops hair loss, and brings dormant follicles back to life.
I had a hair transplant on July 17th, they didn't put many follicles in the crown, now the crown is completely covered with hair.
Been keeping photos, I'll post all of them on my one year mark.
Cheers,
-Dale-

It does make sense! A small amount of DHT reduction can be healthy, especially when you are older, for prostate health and longevity.

Did you have any ED or penile numbness?
