Default My hairline pics. What are my options?

    Hi,

I am 23 and have been noticing my temples are looking more recessed than they used to. I have had a high widows peak hairline since the age of about 14, I don't think I've ever had a straight nw1 hairline. My dad is NW3 at age 63, although he has always had that same hairline all his life. I look very much like him and I suspect I am developing the same pattern.

I have uploaded some pics. The first is one of me at 16. I never realized my hair was receding back then. I have very thick dark hair from my mothers side, so it would be nice if I could retain that, but with a better hairline.

What are my options at this point in time? If I were to have temple transplants, would I need to go on propecia or something as well to stop any more loss? Should I wait until it gets a bit worse? Could it be possible for me to have an nw1 hairline?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Me at 16

You have an natural and normal adult mature male hairline. There is nothing that you need to do. This is normal for adult males, especially caucasion adult males. The available treatments are not likely to be able to prevent this. However, you can start male to female cross-sex hormone therapy and that will certainly stop it. You may not like the additional effects of taking such radical steps though.

Almost every adult loses some hair from the front, so long as you dont start seeing that horrid horseshoe pattern you should be okay.

Like Tracy said, you've developed a normal adult hairline. It looks great as it is and you should totally forget about trying to lower it.

That'd be a waste of money, my friend. My hairline is a bit more receded and a bit thinner than both of your guys' and I won't even consider a hair transplant.

Basically, +1 to everything everyone above said. You don't need it. It would be a waste of money. There's nothing wrong with a matured hairline. Just monitor it while you go out and conquer life.

You need to be aware that good quality ethical hair restoration doctors will not do hair transplant surgery for a patient with such a natural and normal hair line, unless the patient is transgendered. You will likely be turned away by the really good doctors. However, you will probably be able to find a less ethical doctor who will do it for you, but do you really want to take that risk for so little gain?

The bottom line is that if your hair line looks like the OP's hair line, there is nothing wrong with your hair line. What little perceived benefit you think you are gaining from transplant surgery is not worth the risk of transplant surgery.

I agree that your hairline looks fine, but do monitor it and make sure it doesn't sneak back on you. People told me the same thing about mature hairlines when I was your age and with a similar hairline and hair texture as you, but mine has crept back further over the years. If it gets worse hop on propecia and you'll be fine. As long as your crown is still thick don't worry about the higher hairline. I knew there was more going on with me because I was also thinning at the crown.

Thanks for all the replies. It is relieving to hear it looks normal. I think I will just keep a close eye on it for now, and postpone any treatment until it gets worse.
