    Default Hello

My name is Blaine, I'm 18 and I've been experiencing hair loss for a couple years now.Ever since I was about 12 I've had a love for my hair, it always had to be perfect everywhere I went.I've been losing my hair since i was 16, but now its getting bad.Im very very depressed now, I hardly leave my home. And to be honest its getting very hard to deal with.I dont have a job so there is no way in hell ill be able to have hair transplant surgery. And even if I did have a job theres still no way I could spend $20,000 on surgery, considering the only job ill be able to get I would be making less than that a year.I started smoking cigarette's at a young age, but I quit a few months ago and started working out hoping it would help my hair loss but it didn't.It really is hard dealing with this at a young age, Ive lost contact with most of my friends and the few I still talk too I rarely hang out with.I just dont want to live the best years of my life sitting in my bedroom.

    Hi Blaine,
Welcome to the forum.Im sorry to hear it sounds like your in a really depressed state, and for good reason if your losing you hair at your age. Because your only 18, a surgical hair transplant would most likely not be for you at this point, even though the cost is about a third of what you mentioned. I am not a doctor, but I would highly recommend you seeing a doctor who specializes in Hair loss issues. You may not be working a job but are you on your parents medical plan?Do they see this as a serious issue the same as you?For you to have been losing hair since you were sixteen sounds like more than just a DHT problem.Tell your folks you HAVE to get checked out for this because if theres a treatment,at the very least it will slow your hair loss until your old enough to consider a transplant or alternative hair replacement method.I know you feel its tough to deal with your appearance, especially in the company of friends,(Ive been there)but dont let that keep you in hiding.Im sure you have a lot more to offer in your personality and talents so anyone who can't see that in you isn't worth your time anyway right?I hope you're able to get help for your hair loss. Any time you wanna chat,my email is on my profile.
    Dale
