    Default Mole - melanoma?

Two months ago, my scalp started itching and thinning diffusely. Despite the thinning, I was not finding hairs anywhere.

I went to a doctor. He noticed a "non-cancerous" mole in the sweet spot of my itching (the crown). He said the area around it was red. As treatment, he gave me the anti-fungal shampoo, Nizoral 2%.

A month later, the mole has grown and still itches. This whole time I've been focused on the hair loss when I probably should have been focused on the mole. I'm trying to set up a doctor's apportionment. But I have a question.

Does anyone know of any link between moles and hairloss? (other than chemo causing hairloss)

    Thank you very much.

A mole does not necessarily mean a cancerous growth. You have to have it examined by a specialist and have a biopsy done to analyze whether that is the case or not. However that said I have not heard of any correlation of moles and hair loss. If anything I have seen hairs grow out of moles on people's arms.. faces and even hairs on the scalp fully covering (or partially )over tumorous growths on the head

I have never heard of any correlation between moles and hair loss. You do need to consider getting the lesion on your scalp biopsied to make sure it is not something more serious.
