    Default Unsure Thinning

Growing up I always had fine thin hair lately however recently due hair loss on my my younger brother I have been particularly paranoid.

My dad is bald and and he is the only one out of his 4 brothers that suffered through it. On my mom's side my grandfather is bald and one of my 3 uncles.

I've noticed a lot more shedding lately but unsure if it could be the result of seasonal shedding. The pictures were taken with flash, when hair was dry and an inch long.

Looks a bit thin but it's early to tell. Monitor it for a couple months, then consider minoxidil then if it continues, potentially consider stuff like Fin.

I am 23 years old and I typically find that I shed on the top of my head. I do not think my hairline has receded yet. I mostly find shed hairs when I'm taking a shower and not really on the pillow or anything. Lastly, when I shed its usually in phases, like one month I won't shed at all but the next month I go through a phase of heavy shedding. I did start taking nizoral 2% once a week a precaution and thinking about minoxidil to thicken my hair.

Sorry if it's a little unclear, typed it up on the phone. I am taking progress pictures and see how it comes a long before I decide on propecia.

Hopefully you are only experiencing normal cyclical shedding. You still have a nice full head of hair.

my god the people on this forum are so pathetic... Yes, you're balding. It's nice that you still have almost all of your hair but you're starting to lose it. The people who lose it always, at some point, were in the exact same position as you - slight loss, nothing too bad or even visible to most people but eventually it gets worse. Feel free to come back in 6 months and tell me I was right. Ignore all the other posts because they're just stupid

Some people prefer to have a positive outlook and not every patients who has some mild shedding progresses to full male pattern baldness.

Thank you both for your comments!

Going to be starting rogaine foam at the beginning of January, and depending on my shed and if my hair thickens I will make the call to start propecia.

Another question I had, has to do with harsh lighting. Under normal lights my hair is fine, but if I put on a flash or harsh lighting, you can see straight to the scalp. Not quite sure if this is normal or not.

Also, if I spike my hair, is normal to be able to see quite a bit of scalp?

NONE of the photos that you have shared are indicative of balding. Not one!
You ,as a great % of men do, will eventually experience maturing of your hairline.
To what degree ,NO ONE KNOWS. Do not panic 'Not Me' because your hair looks GOOD and I wouldnt just say that.

    I appreciate that!

At times I can be a hypochondriac, I imagine its from the combination of my younger brother's MPB and my now intense hatred towards strong bathroom lighting.
