HT into non hair existent area?
Is it possible to get a HT into an area where hair was never growing before ie below a NW1 hairline.
The reason I ask is because I already have a high hairline thats thinning where it stands and very dramatically. I would like to get grafts done there and inch or so below this.
Does anyone have experience/knowledge with the HT growth success rate in these non hair areas and how much more or less vulnerable they are to hair loss via shock or DHT.

You can transplant hair to any place on the body. If you are going to lower your hair line I would recommend that you photoshop the area to get an idea on what it would look like not only from the front but also the profiles.
Remember the most important of your face is your eyes and if you lower your hair line too much then when people look at you they will focus on your hair line and not your eyes. If you like send me some photos and I will photoshop them for you. Good luck

It's not really recommended to lower the hairline below a NW1 level, but it's certainly possible, technically speaking.

Mr. Blonde,
Just a thought. If you lower your hairline that low (below Norwood 1) and then later decide as you get older that it does not look natural, you may regret it.
Then, the only option to raise that hairline would be to have the grafts removed with FUE or electroalysis.
Your thread caught my attention because I have assisted more than several men over the years that had their hairlines initially lowered to a juvenile placement and then wanted to raise them later.
What happens is that the thinning goes on in the frontal zone and midscalp as they get older so the commencement of their low hairlines appear distorted and causes "eye" drift.
Either way, I hope that you are happy in your final decision.

Thank you to everyone who replied.
My intention is not to lower below a NW1 level. You see I have a very high forehead naturally and a scar on my forehead that I have been able to cover with bangs but as my hair thins its getting harder.
I will look horrible bald so I am weighing up my options. I would like to lower it so it sits above the most frontal part of my hairline. I dont want a NW1 or straight hairline. I am loking for something natural to fill in my temples and will hold of until I stabalise my hairloss before getting any work done.
I live in Ireland also so I will be visting a european HT Dr when I decide to get the work done.

Gotcha, thanks for the additional comments. Your goals make much more sense.
