Plus, in 6-7 years the stem cell applications may be much further developed. I'm going to have to read up on this a bit more as I saw something today that kind of confused me, because it said there were ways to clone person-specific stem cells before this, but that they just didn't use embryos to do it, which made it sound like maybe this wasn't quite as significant a breakthrough as originally represented. Also, it sounds like using embryos for experimentation purposes is extremely difficult due to government regulations, so who knows how that might impede progress. But I did hear a story on NPR in which they said they thought venture capital money would flow strongly back in in response to the findings described in that article (apparently the venture capital investors were staying away from stem cell research/products because there'd been some big busts in this area before), so a mixed bag I guess, as usual.
