The only way to adequately and fully remove this patients prior plug grafts, with scarring of the scalp skin, was with the placement of a balloon tissue expander, which permitted the excision (after 8 weeks of expansion of the balloon) of the entire 4 cm of hairline plug grafts with the skin.
