Default Am I losing my hair or worrying over nothing?

Im currently 21 and I am really freaking out right now! All my life I have had thick hair, my father and brother have thick fully hair and as far I have checked my Grandad and uncles all kept their hair in tact.

However, recently I have noticed that my hairline at the front definitely looks to be receding and the hair at the temples is considerably thinner that the rest! The rest of my hair remains quite thick but as I'm sure most of you can empathise this is a real concern for me!

I was just wondering whether this is anything to actually worry about or if Im just being paranoid and looking too much into it as people I have asked seem to give me no real answers?

If it turns out I am just being ridiculous and dont have a real problem, feel free to mock me for being so concerned.

Thanks for any help, Il upload pictures shortly

    hey jack.

It should automatically let you browse your computer and load. What is it doing ?

As for your hair, dont panic. Most of us start shedding some hair at age 19 to 22. It doesnt mean you are going bald.

Its asking for a URL link for my image when its just saved in my documents?

Thanks but its not so much the shedding more the fact it seems really thin at the temples.

    Nice pics Jack.

You have a great head of hair. Almost all men shed a little off their hairline between 19 and 22 . This establishes a 'mature' hairline which you will carry .

You say both your grandfathers have full heads of hair?

Looks like a mature hairline to me. I would keep an eye on it the next year or so to see if the receding continues. If you don't feel comfortable waiting and seeing then I would suggest you see a professional who can tell you if it's MPB.

Thanks for your help! As im sure you understand, even if its nothing really to worry about, until you know for sure its always one your mind! I didnt realise myself until a friend made a comment and since then its been nothing but checking my hairline, looking at pictures, freaking out everytime i notice a shed hair and worst of all searching every possible internet solution all of which I know isnt good for me!

Well my grandad is 80 now and looking at some recent pictures its actually a lot thinner but this was only over the last 10years and hes been heavily medicated throughout that time. My other grandad died when my dad was 7 so im not really sure with that one.

My only other concern is as the rest of my hair is so thick should I be worried that the temple area feels significantly thinner? Looking closer my brother has a same sort of thiness to his temples but his hairline is much stronger than mine. The last time I got my haircut, the barber commented on how strong my hair was too but this hasnt helped get rid of the sickening doubt!

Its a great relief to talk to others about this so thank you both very much for taking the time to get back to me here, I really appreciate it!

    Jack

You are fine. You do not look receded at all. Put it out of your mind and go out and enjoy your hair.
