Default Shaving my head a year after FUE HT

I just wanted to get some opinion on this. For almost 7 years I had shaved my head every morning with a razor blade before I had my FUE. I think I was an NW6 on the scale. Anyway, I had my second FUE session almost exactly a year ago. So far I am happy with the result. However, although I wanted the choice of hair, I loved having a shaved head (some of the time). I know this not going to make sense to everyone. People are going to ask why did you get the HT then! The FUE gave me a choice whereas before I had no choice. Anyway, I have been itching to shave my head or do a blade number 1 or 0 all over - for almost a year. However, I have been told that you should not shave or use clippers in the first 12 months, and it's better to let your hair grow. Anyway, I couldn't help myself. I went into a hairdressers today and asked for blade 1 all over. It feels good. However, I don't want to also jeopardise my continued hair growth. So what I am asking is, will having hair so short stop any further grafts from growing or coming out. That is if they are still coming out after 12 months!

I am not planning on cutting it again for at least a few weeks. Opinions and advice please!

Could you please show pictures of your shaved head? I always wondered how does it look after transplant especially on higher Norwoods. Are your white dots noticeable?

The answer is no. The dots are not noticeable. Secondly, I am not going to share pictures of my head. I want to keep my life private. Don't take it personally. I am happy to answer any questions though. I have always appreciated this forum. It's helped me in the past.

just buzz it to 3mm it should looks good and way better than it used to look when you used to shave it prior to FUE since you'll have a hairline now to frame your face.
personally, i believe the best look for advanced cases (nw5 and nw6) is to keep the hair short as keeping it long in most cases will make it look very thin specially under sun and some other harsh lights.

Thanks. You are right it does look better now compared to before - mainly because of the hair line. I agree, when I had the first session and I had it a bit long, it felt a bit like a combover but after the second, it's much thicker. However, you still see through in places in strong light.

Hey man. I read your post and it's exactly what I have been thinking about doing. I have shaved my head for over a decade even back when I had a full head of hair, I would be like a nw6 now and have been thinking about a ht but I want to go back to shaving after that. I don't really want hair but I don't want the damn horseshoe shape either. I'm wondering what your hair looks like after your ht? If you shave your head now do you think the pattern will stand out or will it look like your shaved by choice? Any info would be great.

sounds good... did you already shave it? how short did you go?

Also can i ask how many total grafts you had in both HTs?

Hi, I had a "Blade 1" done about a week ago. It looks great. "Blade 0" is the shaved or lowest you can go I think. You have the stable look if that makes sense. I like it. When I used to shave my head before, I used to use razor blades every day. I did not do that this time. I left some hair. But when I used to shave it before HT, you could see that horse shoe shape that gives away that you are bold, and secondly doesn't give your face a good "structure" or "outline" if thats the right word for it. Now that I have "some hair" I have that hair line again. So even if I do a blade 1 or 0, you can see the hair line. I think it's great.

Also for those that are wondering, you cannot see the dots or the places where the hair was grafted from. I have asked my wife and few other people who I would hope would be honest with me, they all said no. You would have to get a magnifying glass or get very up close and personal to notice.

Yes, I shaved it last Thursday, so it's been one week now. However, I chose the wrong time of the year as it's cold now in the UK. However, I wanted to wait at least 12 months.

I had a blade 1 all over. The guy at the barber shop said blade 0 is the lowest, and it's almost the same as using a razor blade. I wanted to leave a tiny stable. Now it's grown a lot in one week. Since I have had my 2 FUE sessions, I have probably been to the hair dressers at least 6 times in 2 years. In the 7 years before my HT, it was 0.

I was an NW6. I was told by almost every single clinic both in London and abroad that I would need 2-3 sessions at the minimum. Basically I would need 5,500 grafts at least to get some coverage. I had my first FUE almost 2 years ago now. I had 3,400 grafts in one session. That's what they tell me. I have to believe them. It was good, but it was a bit thin. So after exactly 12 months or so, I had the second session, and from what I remember, they did I think 2,000 or 2,800 (I can't remember properly now. I got a written document somewhere). They told me it's harder or not possible to put as many grafts in the second session as the first.

Anyway, I can only say I am very pleased with the result. I took my family to photo studio recently to get some family photos done properly while my kid's still young. If you look at my pictures you would be shocked if I said I was a NW6. I am not saying it's perfect. It's very far from it. I look my age. However, I was organising my iPhoto library yesterday and saw some pictures from before. I don't normally like looking at pictures of myself. God the difference is huge. Just my opinion. I know you guys are going to say to show pictures. I am sorry. I am a very private person. However, I like this forum, and the people in it. If you are thinking about it, and you happen to live or live near London, I am more than happy to show you in person. Hope that doesn't make me sound creepy

Anyway, someone else asked if you can see white dot's or something. For me the answer is no for me. However, my skin tone is darker, and I have straight hair. If that helps.

    Hey thinkingaboutit,
I live close to London and i would like to meet up for a quick chat if possible? I would classify myself as an NW5, but ive had 4 transplants, totaling to 3200 FUE over the last 8 years. I am locked into quite a young hairline because i had my temples filled in very early (mistake i know). I had the most recent session 5 weeks ago to fill in areas behind hairline and 'some' of the crown. Most of the crown was left untouched as there are not enough grafts to fill it. Plus i need to conserve grafts for future sessions to fill mid scalp.

Getting a HT every year is already starting to feel like a huge distruption and i have started thinking about shaving it all to 1 blade. I am concerned about white dots. I would love to meet up or see your pics (if you can email them?).

    Many thanks
