Default A Warning to Young Guys About Finasteride - Cancer Study

Not trying to fear monger here. I’m 22 and tried propecia myself around age 21. I just thought a lot of you should be aware of this study.

    Some key quotes:

It is plausible that increased androgen exposure, specifically 5-alpha-dihydrotestoterone (DHT), during puberty or early adulthood could potentially decrease risk of TGCT (testicular cancer).
Consistent with the findings of Petridou and colleagues, our results were supportive of an inverse association of nonseminoma, as well as overall TGCT, with increasing hair loss on the Hamilton-Norwood scale.
Increased endogenous androgen levels, specifically DHT, during puberty and early adulthood may directly affect TGCT risk by altering testicular development.
What I gathered from reading this study was that the inhibition of 5AR during the gonadal development period of young guys (which typically occurs later than puberty) is linked to an increased risk of testicular cancer.

Watch your back, bros. And your balls.

You can probably find articles that drinking lots of water will cause cancer. I'm not going to stop taking it because I "might" get cancer in 30 years.

Ditto to that, there’s a lot of misinfo out there. But there is a difference between a cosmo article and a well-funded clinical study performed by a doctor.

If you started taking Fin after your nuts were fully developed you’re definitely fine. But some guys can keep developing into their early twenties.

This study doesn’t even mentioned Finasteride or 5ARIs, just mentioned a link between 5AR deficiency in development and testicular cancer. In light of this study it might be worthwhile to have a doctor make sure your boys are 100% done developing before changing your DHT production
