Is this the start of going bald?

    Hello all,

I am 22 and have always had quite thin hair AND a widow's peak, meaning it is hard to tell if my hair is thinning or not. However recently I have started becoming more conscious of this spot on the back of my head. This could just be a cow-lick but I am unsure. I have tried to take photos of it in all different kinds of light (flash, no flash, overhead and natural) so that others might be able to tell me what they think. I asked my girlfriend but she just said it looked the same. I think it is hard to tell if something has changed or properly looks like if you see them everyday; which is why it is quite hard for me to say. I hope that someone might be able to help. I have already started used Alpecin as a precaution, but want to know if I should go any further.

    Regards,

    C

BUMP. Plus an additional note. I know in some of these photos it looks like there is nothing to worry about; however some look quite alarming to me.

Why do you say that? Like what are the tell-tale signs and more importantly is there any action I should take?

Your hair still looks great, I would simply try adding a ketaconazole shampoo.

It could be the early stages, if it is, I would just use Minoxdil and see if any regrowth occurs.

If you are losing more than one hundred hairs a day, that would be a cause for alarm.

Is this a sign of balding or is it just a cowlick. I'm 18 and have pretty thick hair. But I'm really paranoid. Please help!

See a dermatologist. That's the best thing to do.

Because if you're in the beginning stages, you can save all of your hair.

If you wait until it gets worse (provided it's androgen alopecia), there's almost NOTHING you can do
                        to save your hair.

I'm not going to lie on this blog. I try to help people, but just giving comforting bullshit is not helping
                        anybody.

I really don't know. The rate of baldness might not be the same as your
father. On the other hand, you might lose hair even slower than him. At
56, a Norwood 2 is a good place to be.

You should get it checked out, just to have a peace of mind.

I'll try to get an appointment but to be honest the fact none of you said it was baldness is peace of mind enough. I just got paranoid for a bit. Lol
