Best case scenario: Chronic Telogen Effluvium, completely reversible. Get checked for common causes.

Possible scenario: Alopecia Areata, bit of a bugger but recovery is possible.

Worst case scenario: Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia, which affects the back and sides as well as the top. I think this is unlikely in your case because normally with DUPA the top and sides thin out at about the same rate.

It was for sure MPB before because it had a definite pattern (I was at about norwood III). Is it possible to have MPB & DUPA?

DUPA is a rare form of MPB.

Don't discount the possibility that you might be suffering a TE on top of MPB either.

Perhaps you need to look back to your great grandparents through the maternal lines too, to see where your baldness is coming from. Neither of my grandfathers lost hair until their 50s. Nor did any of my great grandfathers, apparently. I struggled for ages to see where my father's baldness came from but I think it must have been my paternal grandmother's maternal grandfather! Even her father had a full head of hair, in his case into his 80s. What a bugger that the gene managed to reach me! Should have been dead and buried years ago!
