    Question Are NW 1's impossible?

I'm between a NW 2.5 and a NW 3 at the moment. I'm hoping to stablise this by using propecia, rograine and minoxidal over the next year. Sometime in 2014, I am hoping to have enough money for a hair transplant. I went to a hair clinic and when I asked the man to give a rough estimate as to how many grafts I would need during a HP, his reply was "1500 for full cover". Would this, or more than this be enough to return one to a NW1 hairline - or is it the case that once you start to recede, a NW1 is forever out of the equation?

    Thanks.

How old are you? Age is the critical factor. If you are 38 years old with thick hair, moderate recession, and no known family history of major MPB, a reputable doctor may consider grafting a hairline that offers aggressive youthful temple points. Most reputable hair restoration doctors will not close the temple points. We had a patient in earlier this month who went to a doctor when he was young to have a low, straight hairline grafted to provide minimal appearance of recession.

Here is a photo of our patient taken before his first repair procedure with Dr. Cole. Our patient originally had minor recession and his natural hairline was about a half inch higher. I know some of you young guys will think, "I would love to have that head of hair". This hair transplant made our patient feel self conscious to the point that he had the grafts removed and his hairline moved back to where it was. The HT Dr. Cole is repairing had two and three-hair grafts placed on the hairline and there was some "tenting", or the appearance of small bumps with hair growing out of them. This is a difficult repair. When he is back in the office in 9-12 months, we will post results photos.

This is why a matured placed hairline is critical. As we get older, a juvenile placed hairline will not look natural. The native hair behind the new hair line will continue to diffuse, recede, or both. Then the patient is either faced with chasing the progressive loss and will eat up lots of limited donor that will be needed in the future or will be faced with removing part of the hairline that was placed too low to begin with.

Something to think about and why planning for future loss over a lifetime is critical.

I don't think it's impossible, you just have a lot of things going your way. Like already have a relatively low hairline and have stabilized hair loss.

BTW just so you know, Rogaine is Minoxidil. I see you have listed "Rogaine, minoxidil" a couple of times, but they are the same thing.

Wow so he lowered his hairline, and then brought it back up?

No offense to him but talk about not knowing what you want. Good luck to him, hope he is satisfied with the ending result.
