    consult with dr. umar

    hi everyone,

6 months ago I had 6000 grafts transplanted with dr. umar.
I asked Dr. umar recently about dying my hair or using toppik and gel.
He said I should wait a year to use any of those things.
Why do you think that a lot of doctors say you can dye hair or put gel, toppik in hair 1 to 2 months post op?

He is probably afraid? But you are right most doctors recommend dye hair etc after 1 month. 6 months after your hair transplant is safe to do whatever you want.

I think you need to ask Dr Umar why he is so cautious the vast majority of clinics say you can dye your hair and use toppik after 1 month, although you should always use toppik sparingly and wash regularly. I would challenge him if you are keen to use it but if he says no then you must stick with what he says, if growth is less then optimal he may point to this if he believes it is a contributing factor.

Hi.....Are you happy with the results from Dr. Umar? I'm strongly considering doing 4,500 graphs to give density and clean up some old surgeries.

Any update? How does your hair look? Have you dyed it?

I despised my consult with Umar. He had the audacity to charge me 60ish dollars for a hair transplant consult (never heard of a ht doc doing this). He prides himself as being as board certified dermatologist but when I started asking him about scalp issues I was having he just gave me a prescription for a topical steroid and became very short and annoyed.

              Hi Chris,

Congrats on your procedure with Dr. Umar. I had my procedure with Dr. Umar in January of 2016, and am scheduled to have another one in October of this year to complete my restoration. I used to inundate myself with Toppik every morning before starting my day, and this despite having 4 botched procedures with other doctors prior to my only successful one with Dr. Umar. He told me the same thing regarding Toppik. His explanation was one of caution. He did not want to risk any follicles getting clogged during their nascent stages of growth, thus compromising growth. I followed his instructions meticulously, and my result reflects that.
