Default How to distinguish miniaturised hairs?

    Hello!

Just a quick question. How do you distinguish miniaturised hairs from normal hair? I know you lose up to 150 hairs a day. I think I'm within that range. Anyway, I've got blonde straight hair, but I've noticed hairs coming from my head, some being short, thick and brown. Some being long and blonde... but I can't really tell if they're thinner, because they're blonde. I also notice these hairs coming from the back and sides, so I dunno what they are. Any clue?

    Thanks!

Most of the time miniaturised hairs are characterised by depigmentation of the hairs and reduction of hair caliber.

Of course it is very difficult to catch depigmented hairs in blonde patients ;therfore we should focus on hair caliber .The best way is to schedule a consultation with a doctor .They can use trichoscopic instruments to determine the hair caliber and tell you exactly if you get miniaturised hairs and their percentage in a given area .And you should be concerned if you have more than 10% of miniaturised hairs in that surface .

It can also be hard to distinguish miniturized hairs from hair that newly growing and just coming out of the dormant stage (sleep cycle). Especially in cases with lighter color hair and those with very fine hair.
