Topical Fin/Propecia
Gents - I did some looking at old threads but couldn't come up with anything conclusive, but can anyone recommend a source for topical finasteride/propecia?
Some have mentioned dissolving propecia into minoxidil, if you have had success with this, what is the strategy (do you dissolve 30 propecia tablets into a one month supply of rogaine)?
Thanks in advance.

It's been proven that topical fin only works to the extent that it goes systemic, so save yourself the hassle and just pop the pill. Sorry I don't have a link now.

Finasteride is a hydrophilic substance, meaning when applied through a regular vehicle like alcohol, it will easily enter the bloodstream to the same extent as oral finasteride and studies have shown this. However, some studies have shown that liposomal delivered finasteride has much lower systematic absorption, since these liposomes basically suspend the drug in the scalp. There is a hair transplant firm called Hasson and Wong that plans to release a topical version of finasteride that uses liposomes to deliver the drug, which it has developed with the university of milan. I plan on buying it once they have an agreement with a pharmacy in the u.s. to produce it, and hopefully can get before and after dht tests to confirm changes in serum dht levels if any depending on the costs of the tests. But if your DHT lowers, doesn't that mean it actually is going systemic?

You have serum dht, which is basically blood levels of dht, then you have scalp dht. Scalp dht contributes to hairloss and finasteride lowers it by lowering your serum level of dht. The idea is to lower scalp dht while limiting serum exposure to the drug and thus limiting the side effects of finasteride like fatigue, sexual impairment, and brain fog, which is the goal of liposome-delivered finasteride. Topical finasteride passes into the blood stream much more easily than topical minoxidil, which has made finding a proper vehicle difficult.

Right, so by measuring your DHT before and after you are just seeing if any is going systemic?

That is the plan. Hopefully its not long before they have an agreement in place. I recently stopped taking finasteride because of the high level of fatigue i was experiencing.

It's so heartbreaking to come back to this site and read the title of this thread in "cutting edge/future treatments". We are doomed, there's no hope.

There is hope. It's just far away from where we live! If we move to a different country, and set a time machine for decades in the future, after we're completely bald, there's lots of hope!
