Taking propecia orally vs. sublingual..?
Was wondering if anybody has experimented taking propecia by swallowing with water or under the tongue. I'd figure taking it sublingualy would give better results, since the medicine would go straight to the blood stream. Thoughts or official posts stating anything about this?

For a drug to be administered under the tongue, it needs to be formulated in a certain dosage form. propecia is meant to be swallowed vs taken SL. The tablets are coated in a way that protects the active ingredient. Merck may have chosen this type of formulation to allow for safer handling of the product. I doubt any harm or benefit will be seen by allowing the tablet to first dissolve under the tongue.

I have to cut mine into fourths(my dosage is 5mg/4 = 1.25) since it's SO much cheaper than 1mg tabs. I do notice a decrease in wanting to engage in sexual activity when I take sublingually vs swallowed. Thoughts?

Propecia has been known to cause sexual related side effects even after cessation of its use. As per my understanding, as sublingual administration makes it more therapeutically effective by directly entering into bloodstream, so the side effects are more too.

Exactly. So wouldn't that mean it's more effective taking it sublingually vs swallowed?

The bioavailability from oral is claimed to be 63% on the wikipedia article.
If it was injected IV, then it would probably be like 95% or something. I think you can get more than 63% BA, if you put it under your tongue. I just put one sixth of a proscar under my tongue, it didn't taste that bad or sting and peel some skin off (like some drugs I've sublingualed).
There is also rectal, but I don't really wanna go there. It doesn't really matter to me, I get proscar very cheap from spain and a couple of boxes lasts years. But I know some people are paying a fortune for propecia. I used to pay like £50 for 28x1mg finasteride branded propecia myself..
