    Default Question about minoxidil application?

I have been using minoxidil for about one months time and have medium length hair. The applicator that I recieved from my doctors pharmacy is a shake bottle with a mesh top that is not removable. I have been having concerns about the best way to apply this so that it is getting to the scalp and not in the hair. Should I massage it into the scalp? Is it normal that my hair is getting damp aswell and sometimes having a greyish residue drying in it?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi JSmyth,

I have never seen Minoxidil in a shake bottle before. The liquid usually comes with a dropper and yes, you are supposed to massage the medicine into your scalp. There is also Rogaine foam available. This is kind of like a mousse and again you are supposed to massage it into your scalp. Here is a link for you:

Definitely massage the Minoxidil very good into the scalp. Most of my patients that have switched over to the foam like it better and have less topical side effects. It costs a bit more but I think you only need to use the foam once a day.

You should massage the medication into your scalp; the liquid typically comes with a dropper. arborist rotorua
