How much time do I have?
I’m 19, just started Fin about a week ago. Over the past month, I’ve started diffuse thinning very aggressively. If Fin doesn’t end up working (I’m trying to prepare for the worst), how much time do you think I have before I have to shave it? MPB runs on one side of my family (mom’s).

I just started fin a little while ago as well. Looking at your pictures, I would say you have nothing to worry about, seems like you started meds just in time.

Good to hear man, that gives me a little more hope. Good luck to you on Fin as well!

So the back look like where you part your hair or is that thinning also? Any before pictures?

I purposely separated my hair like that, so I guess it’s a part. With my hair normally, you can’t see any bald spots. However, my part has in fact gotten wider, which I’ve heard is a sign of diffuse thinning.
Pic with the side part is from the other day, the other is from a month ago. For now, my main worry has been on my hairline.

What brand finesteride are you using? As some generic brands can be very poor in quality.
Also what other added additional products besides finesteride do you use?

I use the generic brand from Walgreens (1mg).
I was using Nizoral every 3 days the past month but I might stop soon. Feels like it’s frying my hair. Could I get pretty much the same results using regular shampoo with Fin? Considering I heard Nizoral isn’t expected to do much I don’t think it’s worth it.

Ok stick to that brand, Nizoral is fine 3 times per week. I would consider rotating with regenepure DR as that has Ketaconazole but does not dry your scalp I always Rotate every other day.
You are going through a shed, consider adding minoxidil ideally foam. I would also consider some hair oils to help moisture your scalp and also a topical based anti androgen.
One last question did you prior to starting fin ever experience any scalp tingle or itchyness? If yes has this stopped since starting fin?

No one on here is qualified to answer the questions you are asking.
You need to give the meds a chance to work, that includes going through potential shedding.
As for how long it will take you to "go bald" if it doesn't work? No one can tell you, not even a doctor. Genetics can tip you off to potential degree of baldness, but not always. And you have hormones and environment to add to the mix.
Just take it slowly, and think positively that maybe the fin will work for you!
