Default shock loss near scar very concerned

I had an FUT 2600 grafts procedure with Dr. Suneet Soni 18 days ago. This is my second major HT. The first one was with Hasson&Wong. There was no shock loss at the scar then. There was shock loss at the recipient.

This time I have lost a lot of hear above and below the donor scar starting from 2nd week.

Some posts I've read state that this is rare, but usually comes back. But some places say due to tight closure especially on 2nd surgery it can cause permanent hair loss. This has worried me too much. How can I tell if it was a tight closure or not?

The area is way too big. The clinic says this is normal and should come back within 5-6 months and to keep using finestride and rogaine everyday. Well I told them before I can't use finestride because I had side effects, but I'll keep using rograine. Do I need to use finestride for these hair to grow back? I don't think finestride should have an effect on these hair as they are DHT resistant. I AM using rogaine twice daily though.

Also thinking of eating biotin and MSM to grow hair faster. Can these two be taken together?

The first thing to do is to contact the clinic again and ask for a copy of your surgical record. I do not know the regulations in India but in most western countries, I believe it is your right to have a copy supplied should you request it. If you had a tight closure, it will be noted, but of course you can simply ask them if it was tight to begin with. You can also contact Christina at H&W and ask her to look at your chart to see if a tight closure was noted, just for comparison.

Not taking finasteride after the transplant shouldn't affect the donor area so don't worry about that. Taking biotin and MSM together is fine, and in fact you may be able to find tablets that are combined with both.

I think it is safe to expect a recovery. I've seen some tough cases of shock loss worse than yours that did in fact, recover, so try to relax and hang on for the ride.

Just wondering why you didn't go back to Hanson and Wong?

Couldn't afford it. Got it done in India with a surgeon recommended here.

Don't worry as shock around the scar is not uncommon.
