After how many days did you get your stitches/staples out?

I had my HT last Thursday and the doc told me to come in on the 4th (next wednesday) to get my staples taken out. That would be 13 days from the day I had my HT. Anyone have their staples/stitches taken out sooner?

The amount of time necessary before staples are taken out will vary from patient to patient and clinic to clinic. Our standard is 14 days but some patients are fine at 13 or even 10 days depending on the amount of tension during the wound closure.

would leaving staples in longer than 14 days decrease the risk of stretch scaring?

I was advised to keep my staples in for a minimum two weeks, but was informed that a longer duration would result in a finer scar. That however was not the case in my second surgery, where i kept the staples in for 3 weeks, but resulted in a bigger/wider scar.

Ya, scars can be unpredictable. I am thinking of having FUE's grafted into the scars I have. Dr Feller talks about doing revisions where small 2 inch sections are done at a time. The remaining scar keeps the scalp from stretching while the small area of revision heals. It does make sense. He uses staples.

Usually it's anywhere form 10 days to 14 days on the top end.
