Newbie here - questions about Rogaine

Hi all, first time poster. 36 years old, hair thinning for past 5-6 years. Haven't had to do much early on since it wasn't so serious, but the last year or so it has been bad, I now have a sizable bald spot at the right temple, and left temple is thinning too. I am thinking about trying Rogaine/Minox, first time trying anything for hair loss. I do not plan on taking Propecia. My questions to all you experts:

1) Does minox only slow the balding process or does it actually grow hair? I've heard both sides. All the pics I have seen show growth though.

2) What are the chances minox would work for any one individual? Is it 10% or more like 80%?

3) Is there always shedding when you start? Is there anything negative/risky to the shedding, ie the shedding doesn't grow back and you are worse on minox than without it?

4) I have heard it might get itchy/flakey, but what are the chances of that happening? Are there any other side effects?

5) What is the best brand/dosage/type of minox?

6) I heard you have to apply it twice a day, everyday. After a while is it okay to do once a day or skip some days? I am thinking about when I travel and stuff.

7) Does it stain pillows?

8) How long does it take to see initial effects? How long until full effects? How long would it be before you know it doesn't work?

9) Do you guys use Biotin or special shampoos? Lasers? Do those help?

10) Seriously, is it worth it to use minox?? I can't seem to get a straight answer.

You can try my so called snake oil for a 4 week trial.

Tried minox about 10 years ago but the sides for me was horrible.

Never go for snake oil and don't waste ur time. Get propecia as well as minox as soon as possible.

Thanks, but I am looking for answers to my questions. And no I am not thinking about propecia at the moment, just Minox.
