Is it possible to get improvements with finasteride after 12+ months?
Basically: I'm at 14 months on fin, hair is just as thin as day one, if not thinner. Worst area is my crown region, in terms of lasting/pre-existing damage.

Is it still theoretically possible to get any form of regrowth or other improvement at this stage or later? I'm not using anything else but Niz.

I would also like to know this. I'm in a similar situation - 14 months on fin without any noticeable change. I started minox 2 months ago.

    Can anyone answer kirby's question?

I read before anywhere from 12 to 18 months to see the full results. I'd say however if you haven't noticed anything substantial by now than you may not get any regrowth. For some people they don't experience regrowth but rather keep what they currently have.

What, are you saying I won't get ANY regrowth at all? I'll need some to not have a visibly balding appearance. (A dermatologist I saw privately said I had some telogen effluvium but I don't believe him as forum opinion was otherwise.)

Yes, it is still possible - but remember, this medication alone is best known for stopping hereditary hair loss more so than reversing it. I have seen your "before" pictures. It did not look like you had any significant degree of hair loss back then.

Wrong. My crown is nearly slick bald. The pictures are low
res and don't show the extent of the loss accurately.

No reassurance here Kirby, but I thought I'd throw my story and some opinions in the mix.

Im kind of in the same boat. I started finasteride April 17. Minox June 6. Big shed over the summer. Light to normal shedding until January. Heaviest shed, with some okay days, since then. Hoping it subsides soon.

Considering all the shedding, my density seems almost the same (lost a little I think)... not really sure, iPhone 4 pics aren't the greatest quality. At 11 months tomorrow and hoping for some thickening at a year or later once this shed subsides.

    NW6 diffuse. NW2 hairline.

I really think the first 12-18 months are a roller coaster of shedding for some people. Multiple, cyclical sheds, with follicles becoming more independent over time. You have to consider how DHT affected your follicles are. I caught it relatively early in that I still have a lot of follicles, but they are almost globally affected by DHT. Shedding hopefully will fix this.

I hope it will fix it too; I had some stages of an awful amount of shedding. Hope it all goes well for you. :)

Can you provide reasonably good quality pics?

I would like to see these before and after photos too. You say finasteride did not stop your male pattern baldness at all ?

Tough break. But there is some good news.

Works great for just about everyone else :)
