1 year check on 2600 up front by Dr. Lindsey McLean VA in a Korean male
This fellow had 2600 grafts last Christmas season to address his frontal 1/3. He has a good skin-hair color match but like many Asians, he has very thin hairs….requiring more hair per centimeter and even then, less coverage than say a thick haired middle easterner.
Shown are preop and intraop pics, 1 month scar check pics, 7.5 month and 1 year pictures. He’s has grown well and his scar is tough to find. He was a pleasure to work with and I expect the hairline, while conservative, to hold up for the long haul.

    Hi Dr. Lindsey,

Great work. The coverage seems very good (pic '130r') for someone with such fine hair and obviously, the fine hairs give a 100% natural look. It's impossible to tell he has had a hair transplant when closely inspecting his hairline. I have two question if you wouldn't mind answering, with regards to patients wth fine hair:

    1) Lets assume the frontal 1/3 is the only area to ever be transplanted for the patient. To achieve a 'non-see through look', under reasonably strong lighting, would i be right in assuming people with fine hair need almost double the coverage (FU/cm^2) comapared to people with normal hair ? Would/could you implant say 90 FU/cm^2 into the hairline for a patient with fine hair to achieve a full look, assuming the donor hair is available?. I also have fine hair, but not as fine as the gentlemen in your pic. I am also of asian decent and never realised until i read your comment that asains usually have fine hair. I think people with fine hair need to understand what they can achieve in terms of fullness in a single session. Although fine hairs give less coverage, the results looking so natural is a big plus !! And if you have minimal hair loss in your lifetime, having fine hairs is probably more benficial for that reason.

    2) Is it better to place multipls FU as soon as possible in the hairlines of people with fine hair ? Do you alter your technique for people with fine hair?

I think the results this patient has achieved are great, given his hair characteristics. Is he having another session to improve on the density ?

    Thanks.
